Preview: 2012 Panini Elite Extra Edition Baseball

If you are a prospector, than you will be happy to know that Panini Elite Extra Edition Baseball will soon be released…Panini’s premier prospecting product of the season.

As always, you will be able to find the base autograph cards, but the best part about that? They will be on-card! There will be over 200 players and that includes 55 first round picks from the 2012 draft class.

Don’t forget to look for green and red ink autograph variations, those will be short printed in low quantities. Panini’s usage of different inks is a great substitute for changing the color scheme of a card so that should be a hit.

You will also be able to find a creative Building Blocks autograph set which includes dual, triple, and pick 6 signature cards. Those are numbered as low as 25 and will be a fantastic subset to collect.

Each box contains 20 packs with 5 cards per pack. In each box, it will contain 6 autograph cards, and you may be lucky enough to get a hot box which will have 10 autographs per box!

You can find the product at DA Card World for $100 a box when it releases January 23, 2012.

You can also find the checklist at Cardboard Connection and more information on the official Panini America blog.

Please join me in the Bowman prayer:

Our Topps,
Who art in NYC,
Baseball be thy name,
Thy prospects come,
Thy will be chrome,
In our box as it is in production.
Give us this day,
Our daily pack,
And forgive our anger,
As we forgive our busts.
And lead us not into scrubs,
But deliver us the superfractors.
And thy is the blue, red, and gold refractors forever,
Amen.

October 17th, 2012, is the day of the prospectors sabbath. It also happens to fall on my birthday. It’s the day that 2012 Bowman Chrome baseball is set to release, showcasing some of the best up and coming talent in the game. One of the most collectible sets for rookies of all time, it’s back with everything prospectors need to either make or break their banks.

Each box contains 18 packs per box with 4 cards per pack. You will also find 1 autograph per box with every third box containing an extra autograph. You will no longer find USA baseball autographs this year, but Topps has added a couple of cool additions.

My favorite addition is the Legends in the Making die-cut autographs, featuring some of the best young talent in the game with a sweet die-cut design and autograph. While the full checklist isn’t out, it’s rumored you may find Albert Pujols, Felix Hernandez, Yoenis Cespedes, and Buster Posey amongst others. I love the addition of some solid veteran autographs in a product, and while limited, I like the idea here.

You’ll also be able to find the return of Bowman Black autographs from other products and Future Game patches and patch autographs. Again, while limited, I really love these additions compared to the typical cards you get in the box.

Your typical box is again lots of colorful refractors and an autograph or two. The refractors really haven’t changed all that much, so you know what you are getting into with those. Each parallel is numbered lower than the next one going from standard refractors all the way down to superfractors. That formula hasn’t, and will probably never, change.

So get ready to take a day off from work and open your case or boxes of this product. I already have the day off since I do turn 27 years old, so hopefully I’ll be able to find a box somewhere to open at a price around $67.

You can find out more information about 2012 Bowman Chrome on Cardboard Connection.

And don’t forget, you can get Blue Wave refractors through wrapper redemption once again this year.

Preview: 2012 Bowman Platinum Baseball

The next Bowman product of the 2012 season will be released soon in 2012 Bowman Platinum baseball. With some of the issues kinked out and a better looking lineup of potential hits than the past, the third year of Platinum looks to be the best year of Platinum seen this far.

Every box of Bowman Platinum features 20 packs and 5 cards per pack. With autographs from some of the hottest prospects in the game, it’s one of the products that prospectors like to crack open to try and find that diamond in the rough in prospects.

Each box will contain 2 autographed refractors as well as one autographed relic card. Including these, you may also find redemptions for full game worn items from the Arizona Fall League. That’s right, full sized items. Not cut up and put into cards. Topps has done a great job with acquiring these items across all sports recently, and this is just another great addition to their products.

With parallels galore and tons of autographed content, you may ask…what else can I chase after? The new Purely Platinum autographs contains 1/1 autographs of metal cards with a gold autograph on them. Whether they are platinum or not, we don’t know, but it’s a cool addition to the product.

Get your prospecting and rookie fix on with 2012 Bowman Platinum baseball, releasing July 25, 2012.

Let the prospecting begin.

2012 Bowman baseball is coming out in a few days which means it’s your first chance to get some of the hottest prospects and rookies of the season. Well, it’s your first licensed chance to get these cards.

We’ve already discussed the 2012 Bowman prospect autograph checklist, and today we just announced the 2012 Bowman wrapper redemption. But what about everything else?

Let’s start with what everyone loves, the autographs. There will be one Chrome prospect autograph per box of this product including top pick Gerritt Cole, Danny Hultzen, Anthony Rendon, and more.

You may also find autographed rookies as well as high school All-American autographs. As is standard with Topps products like this, you can find the several different refractor versions as well including autographed refractors. Yes, you will find Lucky Redemptions for Yu Darvish (#1) and Bryce Harper (#2) as well.New this year is Bowman Black, which is a black background card with a silver autograph. Very slick looking stuff and only numbered to 25 copies.

But besides the main draw of autographs, you will find 24 packs per box with 10 cards per pack of the regular hobby version. Each pack will yield 5 Bowman base cards, 2 prospects, 2 Bowman Chrome prospects, and 1 Base Gold parallel.

Each box should run about the same as opening day for the product last year.

But wait, there’s more. Have you ever wanted your own baseball card? Well Topps’ new promotion this year is to find 1 of 5 tickets for your chance to be featured in 2013 Bowman. How crazy is that? This has to be one of my favorite promotions of all time since I’ve always wanted my own baseball card. Awesome addition.

Remember May 9, 2012 for this release.
