Win a Panini Totally Certified Darren Sproles 1/1

That’s right. We are giving away a 1/1 we received from our break of 2012 Panini Totally Certified football (spoiler for the review, oops). All the thanks goes out to our over 1400 Twitter followers who stepped up and retweeted this card over 120 times. I promised I would give it away if we got 100 retweets and we got 20% more! Why don’t you check out that beauty below first to get your mouth watering:

To make it even more special, I’ll send the card in an empty Panini “Super Bowl Black Box” to make the opening experience that much more memorable. Or wait, I removed the inner lining that protects the card from the box…um, I’ll figure something out to send it in the box. It may not be as pretty though.

To Win: All you have to do to win is to post a response to this blog post and tell me what you love about the blog or following the Twitter account @SportsCardBlog. Post the response below, get an entry. Simple as that.

Ends: Contest ends on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at 11:59 PST. Winner will be randomized. One entry per person/household.

Who dat gonna win this card?

Winner! Lushan H. is the one who wins this card! Congratulations on winning that 1/1 patch. Please email me at sportscardblog@gmail.com to claim your prize.

Sports Card Blog – Panini NFL Player of the Day Week 8 Winner

Week 8 was a tough one first of all trying to guess who would be the starting quarterback of the St. Louis Rams. When I created the contest on Thursday, it was 50/50 that AJ Feeley was going to start so I assumed he would as the Rams are out of the playoff race and would want to make sure Sam Bradford didn’t further injure himself.

But the Rams started Sam Bradford and that threw everything off. For that, everyone who predicted a yardage amount would get the points no matter who started. It’s only fair to allow everyone who guessed to get the chance for points.

Anyway, here is this week’s standings and the beginning of the November monthly standings:

Edwin G. – 15
Michael G. – 13
Shane K. – 13
Christian N. – 11
Harley E. – 11
Jay R. – 9
Matt G. – 8
Madison V. – 8
Weirdmaniac – 7
Jordan L. – 7
RJ R. – 6
KJ L. – 6
Evan – 6

So a big congratulations goes out to Edwin G. for winning the Danny Amendola autograph! This is his second weekly win so definitely a big congrats there. Make sure you visit the official NFL Player of the Day site to learn how you can win in your local hobby shop!

There will be a game on Thursday this week, but I will be posting the contest on Thursday and we won’t count the Thursday game as to keep this contest on it’s schedule of every Thursday. I’d hate to post it early and include that game for those who are used to visiting on Thursdays.

See you Thursday!

Sports Card Blog – Panini NFL Player of the Day Week 7 Winner

Well it’s that time again to announce this week’s winner as well as the winner for the month of October! This weekend I promised big points that would be able to get anyone back into the game and boy did it deliver. It delivered more points then I thought imaginable, so good work to all you fantasy football gurus out there.

The winner for this week was Jay R. (two weeks in a row!) with a score of a whopping 34 points!

Sadly, I didn’t get an entry from KJ this week so that means that Jay R. took the lead for the month of October and also won the monthly prize of the Jordan Todman autograph 5×7 and the box of 2011 Panini NFL Stickers with sticker book! Craziness I tell you.

Here are the week’s standings. The full leaderboard will be updated soon.

Jay R. – 34
RJ R. – 31
Madison V. – 29
Weirdmaniac – 27
Michael G. – 25
Shane K. – 25
Matt G. – 22
Harley E. – 21
Edwin G. – 21
Chris G. – 19

Will there be another big point weekend by the time the promotion is through? We will see.

Remember to visit the official NFL Player of the Day website for more information about the hobby store promotions and to find out how you can win a day with a NFL player. Plus it helps me out and you all love me, don’t you?

Site News: June 1st 2011 Was a Great Day

I like posting about accomplishments. The reason being when I look back on the blog and look at my posts I’ve made, I like to look back and just remember certain occasions. I guess I am just a very nostalgic person in general. Maybe you have to be a little nostalgic to be the type of sports card collector I am.

The day started off great. I opened up my email and received a nice letter from Adam of Dave & Adam’s Card World. This was completely unexpected, although I had noticed on my “site meter” that I had a few hits from Buffalo and Tonawanda. I was hoping I would catch the attention of DACW or Blowout on my recent comparison between the two companies. Well I definitely caught Adam’s eye and I received a nice letter from Adam. It looks like I’ll be interviewing him with some questions about DACW in the near future. Hopefully, when I am back in Connecticut I can take a nice drive up to Buffalo and tour their facilities. By the way, if anyone has any questions they would like to ask Adam, please email me or post a comment. I would like some questions other customers may have for one of the giants of the online hobby retailers. So yeah, definitely a good start to the day.

I ended up writing 3 posts throughout the day. Sometimes I just get so excited I want to post something that I see as important. So I just kept on writing. Next, I was also informed that Freedom Cardboard had their new blog system set up. Chris Gilmore, the owner, had set up WordPress blogs for anyone to use through their site. I thought it was a great opportunity to expand my viewers and get more input. So I created Sports Card Blog – Freedom Cardboard Edition. I’m not entirely sure what I am going to do with it yet, but I thought it would be fun to have some added commentary on things every once and awhile, especially in the baseball area where Freedom Cardboard is popular. Why not, right? Plus I’m sure I’ll hold exclusive Freedom Cardboard member contests over there on that blog because it’s so generously hosted by them. Check it out every once and awhile. I can’t guarantee anything over there, but why not give it a try?

Finally, after a ton of people asking me about the 2011 Upper Deck Legendary Cuts checklist I was able to get it emailed to me the night before the product came out. I’d like to thank Upper Deck and Chris Carlin for getting that out to me so I could share it with the hobby community. Oh, and share we did. Almost 600 people visited Sports Card Blog late yesterday afternoon and evening just to catch a glimpse at the “checklist heard around the world”. Obviously, a new record in a day for the site. I love numbers and just seeing them pile up is great for me and the hobby. People were questioning whether Upper Deck would have the guts to put the checklist out and they delivered. If you like historic baseball and Americana autographs I would totally check out 2011 Upper Deck Legendary Cuts.

So I would like to say thank you to the hobby community for embracing this blog and taking your time to read what I have to write and say. With that, I will be posting a contest either later today or tomorrow to thank everyone. Prizes will not be announced, but you will soon find out why. Don’t worry, I won’t be giving out redemptions. When I said I was building something for this site, I really was. I’ll leave you with one word until I post the contest. Spin.

Again, thanks. I’ll have some more hobby news shortly.
