2012 Panini NFL Player of the Day Contest – Week 7

First, we would like to formally congratulate Shane K. for winning Week 6 of the Panini NFL Player of the Day contest here on Sports Card Blog. He netted some sweet swag for the victory, including a MJD collectible item and some packs to go along with it. Everyone else who beat me or got in on the bonus entry has been entered for the grand prizes, which I scored a little low, but gave a bit of a challenge. Shane K. even guessed the exact number of points, so big congrats to that.

The contest ends with week 9, so we are getting close to the end!

But now, Week 7 is here.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to this year’s 2012 Panini NFL Player of the Day promotion courtesy of the wonderful people at Panini and Sports Card Blog. So you may not have a card shop near you or maybe you don’t have the cash to participate in this in store program…so what? You can still participate here and win some great prizes along the way.

This year’s theme is “Beat the Blogger” so we have a great contest set up for Week 5. Easy and simple to enter.

If you “Beat the Blogger” you will earn 1 entry towards one of TWO grand prizes we are giving away at the end of the promotion – an oversized Andy Dalton Private Signings autograph and a box of 2012 Panini Rookies & Stars football. There will also be a bonus as well for those who participate in the bonus at the bottom.

This week, the person with the most points will win a Panini NFL POD t-shirt and some POD packs as well. Because of my current medical issues, it is not going to be very in-depth. It’s just a regular pick ‘em this week.

For the record, I am going through medical issues so have not sent items out yet. So I do apologize. I’m not allowed to drive anywhere due to the medications I am on.

NFL Week 5 SCB Rookie of the Week

Every week we have been recapping the best rookie performances of the week and showcasing some sweet trading cards you can find on the market of that player. Except for last week, who would of thought a kicker would have been the best rookie of the week? Only the “Legatron”.

This week, no kickers or punters. We had two performances in the NFL that stood out above the rest from first year players. Alfred Morris of the Washington Redskins ran all over the field in his game. But that just wasn’t enough to beat the man who passed and drove his team to victory in the final minutes of the game.

Andrew Luck is our Week 5 NFL Rookie of the Week. The first pick of the 2012 NFL Draft beat the Green Bay Packers 30-27 in a real shootout towards the end. With his team down by 5 with under a minute to go, he was able to drive his team down for a score to win the game. 362 yards and 2 TDs against the Packers is no easy feat, and the victory sealed a signature moment in Luck’s young career.

With no Darelle Revis on the Jets, can Luck duplicate that performance this week?

His rookie cards took a turn up for the first time in awhile, but with already high prices, he needs more performances like that to take it to another level.

NFL Week 3 SCB Rookie of the Week

With a wild week 3 of games, some for better reasons than others, there were a ton of standouts on both offense and defense this week. With solid play from a ton of rookies, it was a difficult pick for our NFL Rookie of the Week.

Our pick had to be T.Y. Hilton of the Indianapolis Colts. The wide receiver had a great performance in the loss to the Jaguars. He was able to haul in four passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. Despite the team not being able to pull out a victory, he stepped up with the loss of Austin Collie and should be getting more targets the rest of the season.

This is his 2012 Topps Platinum autographed rookie card. After a big game like that, his card prices have jumped a bit, and there should be a little more ceiling in his cards if he puts up another big week. The Austin Collie situation also gives this more room to move up, so grab them up now in case he has another big week.

2012 Panini NFL Player of the Day: Beat The Blogger

Beginning this week will be the 2012 Panini NFL Player of the Day promotion here on Sports Card Blog. We have a ton of prizes that we are giving away, from packs of NFL Player of the Day cards, commemorative sets, autographs, fun man/girl cave items, and even a hobby box of cards.

The theme of this year’s promotion is going to be “Beat the Blogger”. I will be posting contests every Thursday once again this year, for the games slated on Sundays and Mondays. I will also be posting my own answers for the contest. If you beat me, you get one entry into the monthly and grand prizes. The person with the highest score will win the weekly prizes. Pretty simple.

Make sure you look out for special ways to get entries and look out for our giveaways we will be having on our Twitter and Facebook pages during the promotion for some extra free stuff.

All I ask in return for running this program is you click the banner and check out the official Panini Player of the Day website. There, you can find out more about the hobby shop portion of the program and get involved.

So get ready for another great season of contests and prizes. It’s a little easier this year to get involved, so let’s have some fun.
