Sports Card Blog – Panini NFL Player of the Day Contest Week 9

And we’re back with a Thursday full of action. I hope everyone is enjoying the football on this Thursday night. Don’t worry, I was fully aware of the game tonight so tonight’s game will not count in this contest. I wanted to keep everything on the set schedule of posting a contest every Thursday. It’s getting late in the promotion and I wanted to make sure I didn’t fool anyone by posting a contest early.

The prize this week is going to be a Panini NFL Player of the Day t-shirt and a set of NFL Player of the Day cards. I have given away two of these already and need to give away 2 more by the end of the month.

This week’s contest will be taking it back old-school to earlier in the promotion with a basic NFL Pick’em! I list the games, you tell me who wins. Most correct guesses wins. Simple but always a crowd pleaser and the possibility for some good points.

Texans @ Buccaneers

Patriots @ Jets

Saints @ Falcons

Steelers @ Bengals

Rams @ Browns

Bills @ Cowboys

Jaguars @ Colts

Broncos @ Chiefs

Redskins @ Dolphins

Cardinals @ Eagles

Titans @ Panthers

Ravens @ Seahawks

Lions @ Bears

Giants @ 49ers

Vikings @ Packers

Tie-breaker: How many yards will Aaron Rodgers pass for this week?

I know we’ve done this type of contest already, but I’m fresh out of ideas. If you have any ideas for the last couple weeks of this promotion, please let me know. I might do a special Thanksgiving contest promotion, so keep that in mind for when that rolls around!

Now get to it!

Sports Card Blog – Panini NFL Player of the Day Week 8 Winner

Week 8 was a tough one first of all trying to guess who would be the starting quarterback of the St. Louis Rams. When I created the contest on Thursday, it was 50/50 that AJ Feeley was going to start so I assumed he would as the Rams are out of the playoff race and would want to make sure Sam Bradford didn’t further injure himself.

But the Rams started Sam Bradford and that threw everything off. For that, everyone who predicted a yardage amount would get the points no matter who started. It’s only fair to allow everyone who guessed to get the chance for points.

Anyway, here is this week’s standings and the beginning of the November monthly standings:

Edwin G. – 15
Michael G. – 13
Shane K. – 13
Christian N. – 11
Harley E. – 11
Jay R. – 9
Matt G. – 8
Madison V. – 8
Weirdmaniac – 7
Jordan L. – 7
RJ R. – 6
KJ L. – 6
Evan – 6

So a big congratulations goes out to Edwin G. for winning the Danny Amendola autograph! This is his second weekly win so definitely a big congrats there. Make sure you visit the official NFL Player of the Day site to learn how you can win in your local hobby shop!

There will be a game on Thursday this week, but I will be posting the contest on Thursday and we won’t count the Thursday game as to keep this contest on it’s schedule of every Thursday. I’d hate to post it early and include that game for those who are used to visiting on Thursdays.

See you Thursday!

Sports Card Blog – Panini NFL Player of the Day Contest Week 8

Week 8 is here! November is here! We are in the final stretch of the NFL Player of the Day promotion with 4 more weeks of NFL action left for fabulous prizes. If you haven’t checked the leaderboard yet, the monthly standings have been reset. The winner for the month of November will receive a hobby box of 2011 Panini Threads football!

Now I know most of you have not received your prizes yet. I started to send them out when I realized that I might need to send to someone more then once. (I think I only sent to two people) In order for me to save on funds for shipping, yes I am shipping out of my own pocket, I am delaying all shipping of prizes until the end of the promotion. So I apologize, but rest assured, they will be sent when the final points are tallied.

Don’t forget, anyone who does not win a prize will be entered to win one of three mystery Panini packs put together by me which all have some base, inserts, rookies, and a guaranteed game used card from a previous Panini review.

Anyway, this is the Week 8 contest. We are going to start this month off with a BANG! We will be giving away an autographed card with our second team themed contest. The prize of the week is a 2011 Panini NFL Player of the Day autographed card of Danny Amendola of the St. Louis Rams! That means this week is St. Louis Rams theme week!

The St. Louis Rams (1-6) will be facing the Arizona Cardinals (1-6) to figure out who will “Suck for Luck” less. Neither teams are in a position to draft Andrew Luck with Sam Bradford in St. Louis with a huge contract and Kevin Kolb in Arizona with the same.

This will be just like the Chiefs theme week with pretty much the same questions.

How many points will the St. Louis Rams score this week? (2 points for bullseye, 1 point for within 4)

How many yards will AJ Feeley pass for this week? (4 points for bullseye, 3 points for within 15, 2 points for within 25, 1 points for within 50)

How many yards will Steven Jackson rush for this week? (4 points for bullseye, 3 points for within 10, 2 points for within 20, 1 point for within 30)

How many yards will Brandon Lloyd receive for this week? (4 points for bullseye, 3 points for within 10, 2 points for within 20, 1 point for within 30)

How many field goals will Josh Brown kick? (2 points for bullseye, 1 point for within 1)

How many tackles will James Laurinaitis have this game? (3 points for bullseye, 2 points for within 2, 1 point for within 4)

How many points will the Rams give up this week? (2 points for bullseye, 1 point for within 5 points)

Tie-Breaker – How many rushing attempts will Steven Jackson have this game?

Your answers are due in by kickoff of the Rams – Cardinals game! Good luck! Make sure you visit the official Panini NFL Player of the Day site for more information about the hobby shop promotion and to show your support of this promotion!

Sports Card Blog – Panini NFL Player of the Day Week 7 Winner

Well it’s that time again to announce this week’s winner as well as the winner for the month of October! This weekend I promised big points that would be able to get anyone back into the game and boy did it deliver. It delivered more points then I thought imaginable, so good work to all you fantasy football gurus out there.

The winner for this week was Jay R. (two weeks in a row!) with a score of a whopping 34 points!

Sadly, I didn’t get an entry from KJ this week so that means that Jay R. took the lead for the month of October and also won the monthly prize of the Jordan Todman autograph 5×7 and the box of 2011 Panini NFL Stickers with sticker book! Craziness I tell you.

Here are the week’s standings. The full leaderboard will be updated soon.

Jay R. – 34
RJ R. – 31
Madison V. – 29
Weirdmaniac – 27
Michael G. – 25
Shane K. – 25
Matt G. – 22
Harley E. – 21
Edwin G. – 21
Chris G. – 19

Will there be another big point weekend by the time the promotion is through? We will see.

Remember to visit the official NFL Player of the Day website for more information about the hobby store promotions and to find out how you can win a day with a NFL player. Plus it helps me out and you all love me, don’t you?

Sports Card Blog – Panini NFL Player of the Day Week 6 Winner

Well, this was a harder contest then I had envisioned. I’ll start with Thomas Jones, the Kansas City depth chart had him listed as their number one when I decided to design this contest. I had no idea that was changed, so I apologize for that. I thought this would be something that everyone would get some points in, but that definitely wasn’t the case as points were hard to come by. I’ll think of something better for you guys next week in our October finale.

Anyway, congratulations goes out to Jay R. who barely beat KJ L. who was once again near the top of leaderboards. Jay R. will receive a giant Matt Cassel bobblehead for his in depth knowledge and premier guessing skills of the Kansas City Chiefs game yesterday. Who thought that Oakland would roll over and not put a point on the board?

Here are this week’s standings. The leaderboard page will be updated soon.

Jay R. – 8 (Winner!)
KJ L. – 7
Michael G. – 4
Shane K. – 4
Weirdmaniac – 3
RJ R. – 3
Madison V. – 2
Edwin G. – 2
Matt G. – 1
Nick L. – 0

So yeah, pretty low scoring week.

But I will make up for that. Expect the possibilities for BIG points next week in a fantasy football style challenge requested by Matt G. This will be the opportunity for EVERYONE to get back into the game. Stay tuned!
