Achieving Goals, Changing and the Blog

Let me preface this by saying that I plan on getting back to blogging. As I stated back in September I had been working on many larger goals that took preference over working on this blog. Those included education, family, career, all of those important things that are more important to me than blogging. Heck, I can’t even remember the last time I checked my SCB email! I ┬ájust wanted to give a status update.

So first and foremost, I completed my Master’s degree in December. That was probably number one on my list as it was the shortest term goal and one that would probably be the easiest to achieve. Next, I wanted to learn or prepare on being a father and actually begin the process of becoming one. That goal was met as well as my wife is due with our first child in July. I don’t know the gender yet, but I am definitely going to be picking up a complete set of 2014 Topps baseball at the end of the year as a memento for the child one day. Finally, career is the most recent goal and is the one I achieved as of two weeks ago. I just got a new job in a field I love, investigation, at a company where my input truly matters, Airbnb.

With all of that, I will have some additional time to blog, at least until the baby is born. I will not, however, return to the one post a day thing. I am going to change the format of this blog just a bit to be more personal and analytical. Originally it was a source of information that had just come out with some opinions thrown in there. Analytics and opinion is a more challenging method for me and I would like to provide some additional substance to the posts. Surprisingly, I was getting stressed with one post a day over a year and a half while working, school, etc. I realized it when I went on my honeymoon and didn’t have to worry about it. It became a job when it was never meant for that purpose. I actually have thought about closing shop too, but I’ve put in a lot of work that I want to continue as a hobby.

So now begins a welcome change as things continue to flesh out. Maybe tonight I will write a little something about exclusive contracts with the news of Upper Deck again receiving an exclusive license for NHL products…

Site News: Another Great Day – Panini Day

I like great days. Nothing makes me feel better then just having one of those days where everything seems to go right. I’ve actually had two of those days in a row after a bunch of days where everything just seemed to go wrong. My string of good days continued yesterday with a random email.

This random email out of the blue came from Tracy Hackler, the Marketing Manager, of Panini America. Tracy and Panini have enjoyed my work so much since I’ve started that they are giving me the opportunity to review products for their company. That’s right, not only will I be receiving product to review, I will be able to give out tons more prizes to keep you all reading. At the end of every Panini America sponsored review, I will be giving out cards from that review. So you need to either read the full review or check the break video to find out how to win. Pretty awesome, right? I will be involved in the next shipment of products to review which will be whenever they get around to it. I didn’t ask many questions as I was excited to be able to do this. It’s been one of my goals for this site since I’ve started.

Also, this morning I saw some great images of the 2010-11 Panini Dominion hockey set coming out later this summer. There is a reason why Panini has the best blog in the sports card industry and that is because of posts like these. So many previews every day of the week you know exactly what kind of cards are coming to you. Panini does a great job with their blog daily. They also do a great job on their Twitter with responding to questions. Now if only they could improve their Facebook presence just a little bit.

So I guess this has turned into the Official Panini Day post. A few site updates, some Panini product promoting as a continued thanks, the new Panini banner on the left…it’s just one of those good days. Maybe I’ll continue the theme with a product preview…maybe some Panini Elite football?

Hmm, I wonder what next will come after Panini Day?
