Panini Adds More For 2012 NSCC

Panini already announced some big plans for the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore in a couple of weeks. But we all had a suspicion that there was more than Panini was letting on, and there definitely is.

Not only has Panini announced their wrapper redemption program that will be taking place at the National, they announced a special program for the “ballers” at the National who open over $6500 of Panini product.

The VIP program was instituted to show those die hard collectors how much Panini cares for their business. And the VIP treatment they will get – from mingling with Hall of Famers, free autographs, Black Boxes, and the chance to bid on some rare Panini experiences…these collectors are being treated like royalty.

The only catch is that you have to buy specific items from specific retailers at the show to get Panini Bucks. These items also will be up for wrapper redemptions.

So good luck to those heading out to Baltimore for the NSCC. It looks like you’ll have a ton of different options when it comes to wrapper redemptions with each company.

Panini’s Big Plans For the 2012 NSCC

With the National Sports Collectors Convention coming up on August 2, 2012, Panini has made a huge announcement for one of their plans at the National.

One of the most interesting and innovative concepts for redemption replacements is being brought live to the show. If you are attending this event and have outstanding redemptions of at least 4 months, you’ll be able to get involved with this “trade up” program.

Combining the book value of your cards that you request replacement for, you will be able to get a “grab bag” style redemption replacement for your cards. They will fall in different sports and categories with you being able to redeem for several different valued grab bags. Yes, you can combine multiple cards for one higher value grab bag.

It’s really quite interesting what may be involved here. Will these cards be redemptions that were never redeemed? Cards that were never inserted into product, but produced anyway? Will these be NSCC show stamped items?

Either way, I have a feeling most collectors are going to end up happy with their replacement. Just the fact that you can combine 15 Nathan Eberle autographed rookies into 1 $200 grab bag card makes this interesting. I really can’t wait to see the results and what collectors end up pulling from these grab bags.

Upper Deck’s Plans for the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention

Upper Deck is up next in providing information on what they will be doing for collectors at the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore.

Upper Deck will be providing quite the wrapper redemption program featuring an array of Upper Deck products. These products must be purchased from a Diamond Dealer at the show, and in return you will be given a voucher. To redeem your packs you must bring the 5 empty packs needed and the voucher to the Upper Deck table.

You will be able to get vouchers for these products:

2011-12 NHL SP Game-Used
2012 Upper Deck Football
2011-12 NHL SPx
2011 College Football Legends
2012 SPx Football
2012 SP Signature Edition Baseball
2011-12 NHL SP Authentic
2012 Upper Deck Soccer

While I’m not sure if you will be able to get the vouchers before the show, make sure you grab some of these products at the show so you can get your packs. As always, Upper Deck supplies some pretty sweet autographs in their NSCC packs like Lebron, Jordan, Tiger, etc., so it should be great for collectors.

You will only be able to claim 5 packs per person, per day.

Here is the schedule of the card sets:

NSCC-2 – Thierry Henry
NSCC-3 – Alonzo Mourning

Topps Announces VIP Cards for 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention

Today, Topps released the cards that will be added to the VIP packages for those VIPs attending the 2012 NSCC in Baltimore. The cards look great as they are modeled off of vintage ’52 Topps designs featuring some of the greatest players to play the game in their minor league uniforms. Check out some of the cards the VIPs will be receiving. If you haven’t picked up your VIP pass yet, it’s probably a good idea!

2012 National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore

A lot of information was just released for the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention (NSCC) in Baltimore this year.

First, sadly, I will not be able to attend this mecca of card collecting once again this year. At least this year I have a very valid excuse: I’m getting married. The NSCC will be held from August 1-5, 2012. I am getting married on August 7th. While a trip would be great for myself and the blog…I’d rather not get an early divorce.

The Baltimore Convention Center should be packed once again with sports card collectors from around the world. With over 40,000 people expected to visit during the few days it should be a good time in the Charm City.

From what I’ve seen on the official NSCC website, there are going to be A LOT of awesome names signing autographs at the show all week long. Hall of Famers from all four sports and some big names currently playing their respective games. Names like Gordie Howe, Alexander Ovechkin, Cal Ripken Jr., Brooks Robinson, Barry Sanders, Jamal Lewis, John Havlicek, Gary Payton and more. That list doesn’t even scratch the surface of the names expected to be there.

And of course, you go for the deals. With every top trading card manufacturer in attendance as well as some of the major online retailers, it will be a good time for everyone.

Except for me. I won’t be there. Maybe I can find a way to spread the word about without going? Who among my readers is going to the National? Maybe I can send some t-shirts for people to wear…
