Happy Father’s Day 2011!

Mary Riley of Benchwarmer says Happy Father’s Day in this card. It is from 2009 but forget about that, it’s Mary Riley.

This Father’s Day surely is a great one for all you fathers out there. For one, if you’re reading this post, you get to see the beautiful Mary Riley in a Father’s Day commemorative card.

Secondly, there will be a ton of great inter-league baseball for all you dads to watch this afternoon into the evening hours.

Third, if you aren’t into baseball you’re surely into golf. You can watch the final round of the US Open and see if Rory McIlroy can hold his lead at this major tournament this time around.

Finally, when the sun goes down it will only get hotter when the 2011 Miss USA Pagaent will be live on NBC.

What a great Father’s Day lineup for dad to sit home and enjoy the best things the world has to offer for men. Sports and women. While you’re at it, make it even better and crack open a couple cold ones.*

*If you’re of legal age: 21 in the US and 18 everywhere else that has their heads on straight. Otherwise, have yourself an O’Douls or root beer.

While I am not a father as of right now, I will be enjoying all of these things as the fiancee will be working.

And remember to support prostate cancer awareness on this day. If they find a preventative cure, you will no longer need those special appointments where you are afraid to look at your doctor afterwards.

Site News: Another Great Day – Panini Day

I like great days. Nothing makes me feel better then just having one of those days where everything seems to go right. I’ve actually had two of those days in a row after a bunch of days where everything just seemed to go wrong. My string of good days continued yesterday with a random email.

This random email out of the blue came from Tracy Hackler, the Marketing Manager, of Panini America. Tracy and Panini have enjoyed my work so much since I’ve started that they are giving me the opportunity to review products for their company. That’s right, not only will I be receiving product to review, I will be able to give out tons more prizes to keep you all reading. At the end of every Panini America sponsored review, I will be giving out cards from that review. So you need to either read the full review or check the break video to find out how to win. Pretty awesome, right? I will be involved in the next shipment of products to review which will be whenever they get around to it. I didn’t ask many questions as I was excited to be able to do this. It’s been one of my goals for this site since I’ve started.

Also, this morning I saw some great images of the 2010-11 Panini Dominion hockey set coming out later this summer. There is a reason why Panini has the best blog in the sports card industry and that is because of posts like these. So many previews every day of the week you know exactly what kind of cards are coming to you. Panini does a great job with their blog daily. They also do a great job on their Twitter with responding to questions. Now if only they could improve their Facebook presence just a little bit.

So I guess this has turned into the Official Panini Day post. A few site updates, some Panini product promoting as a continued thanks, the new Panini banner on the left…it’s just one of those good days. Maybe I’ll continue the theme with a product preview…maybe some Panini Elite football?

Hmm, I wonder what next will come after Panini Day?

Sports Card Blog Contest #1 Results Show

*cue the fancy music*

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Sports Card Blog Contest #1 Results Show!

*applause*

Thank you, thank you. You are far too kind. But this is really about the nominees! All 31 of you had your chance to win fabulous prizes! 3 of you will go home with fancy prizes courtesy of Sports Card Blog. But first, we have a live performance by Blink-182!

Now I hear they are working on a new album so stay tuned to some other site for more information!

*applause*

We’d like to take this time to honor a great entertainer who we lost recently, Mr. Macho Man Randy Savage. In honor of Mr. Macho Man we are taking Diamond King’s idea and the name of the wheel for this contest is:

“The Macho Man Randy Savage Memorial Wheel O’ Prizes”

Please take a moment of silence for Mr. Macho Man.

*silence*

Before we go to the drawing, I’d like to say thank you to everyone who made this possible. Me. Go me! And I’d like to thank the viewers who spend their time reading Sports Card Blog. We couldn’t have done it without you! *sheds a tear*

Now, for the moment you all have been waiting for…the drawing…live on video! (previously recorded) It’s way too long of a video for what it is but we need to fill air time!

*applause*

Winners will be contacted by the email they provided. Please post your acceptance speeches in the comments.

May the mojo be with you all! Thank you and goodnight!

*standing ovation*

Contest #1 Is Closed

The contest is now closed. And with 31 total entries that means we are giving away 3 prizes.

I’m doing some slight modifications to the prize wheel Monday, so hopefully I’ll be able to spin it up. The bolt in the back is a little small in length for the locking nut to fit with the washers so it keeps getting too tight or too loose which makes the spinning uneven. I just need the materials and hopefully I get a chance to pick them up.

I’ll be doing more mods soon, but I was excited to get it out there for this weekend in celebration.

Good luck everyone.

I will be doing the randomization video with the winners spin video at the same time.

Contest: First Sports Card Blog Contest

The time has come for the first Sports Card Blog contest.

After a record breaking almost 600 views to Sports Card Blog on June 1st, 2011, I am rewarding my viewers with the possibilities of fabulous prizes. Of course, everyone wants to know what these fabulous prizes will be. If you haven’t seen the video yet, check it out below.

For those who can’t view YouTube while at work or wish to not see my ugly mug, here is a breakdown of the current prizes available.

- 20 card base lot

-10 card insert lot

-1 game used card

-1 autograph card

-1 autographed 8×10

-1 Fathead Tradeable

-Mystery Box (containing autographs, game used, sports swag, terrible cards, or anything related to sports)

-Your Choice

You really need to see the video if you are confused now. If you are still at work, that’s fine. But you can always just cover up my ugly mug until I go into first person mode with the camera.

You will be spinning my “Wheel of Prizes” (name pending). Or I will, but you will tell me how to spin. Light, Medium, or Hard. This is how the majority Sports Card Blog prizes will be given out.

Rules:

-1 Entry Per Household/Person (Don’t bogart the prizes)

-You must post a comment to this post – One comment equal 1 entry – Please also post how hard you would like me to spin!

-Winners will be picked via Random.ORG for the spin of the wheel

-If a prize that requires a random number to be drawn wins, I will spin the wheel again for the random number. That random number will determine your prizes from the stack. For instance, 10 card insert lot. If a 3 is rolled, you get every 3rd card from the stack until you get 10 inserts.

-If the base lot is won, I will email you for your address and a 3 team request. All or one of those teams will be in your lot. If I run out of that team, I reserve the right to throw in randoms. (Especially basketball, don’t have many basketball cards currently)

-You may enter immediately, however, entries are closed on Sunday, June 5th, 2011, at 11:59PM PST. That gives you about 2 and a half days.

-Bonus Entry: Because of my record setting view day, I am rewarding the members of Freedom Cardboard a bonus entry if you post your Freedom Cardboard username and it checks out. Why am I rewarding them? Over 200 Freedom Cardboard members clicked on a link to my blog, beating out everywhere else I posted. If you have not joined Freedom Cardboard, make sure you join them today using this link for your bonus entry.

-More Winners? If 20+ different people enter this contest I will award 1 extra prize for each 10 additional people (up to 10 total prizes). So tell your friends.

That’s about it. Everything will be recorded and posted hopefully on Monday or Tuesday.

Also, if you wish to be creative and think of a name for the spinning prize wheel, that would be great. Get your comments in now!
