Preview: 2012 Panini Limited Football

Panini is back with another year of Panini Limited Football, which has become a staple of the hobby.

The popular Materials Phenom autographed rookie cards are back! These cards feature on-card autographs and include a die cut to represent each players team. Collectors are always after these cards and they are sure to be after them once again this year.

A new feature this year is the Hog Heaven autographed set. That may sound familiar, and it should. Donruss had a set in one of their products years ago. These cards will feature authentic Football swatches that are signed in silver.

Don’t forget about Limited calling-card rookie cards to return as well. It’ll feature on-card autographs with team-name die cuts and large memorabilia swatches.

Each box contains 1 pack with 7 cards. In each box, it will contain 3 autograph or  memorabilia cards.

You can find the product at DA Card World for around $100 a box when it releases on January 16, 2013.

You can also find the checklist on Cardboard Connection and more information on the official Panini blog.

Preview: 2012 Panini Crown Royale Football

Releasing today is the newest installment of Crown Royale football from Panini. In this third year, I believe, Panini has tried to freshen up the product a bit in the design department and add some new cards to the mix.

Returning again is the highly collected Rookie Silhouettes autographed cards. These cards feature large swatches of jersey or patches and a signature on the card. Collectors love these cards and it is a top hit in every box. Also being featured are a number of NFL legends in this subset, which is a great new addition.

But making their debut in Crown Royale this year is the Panini’s Choice autographed insert. You may remember these cards if you follow Panini’s basketball products or are a fan of the past cards from Pacific. These die-cut pyramid style cards feature beautiful autographs as well and die-cut goodness.

There will also be a few new die-cut inserts along the way too along with the typical die-cut base card design. It’s a set that is definitely not square. Or some would say, cutting edge. We could work with the puns all day if we wanted to.

Each box contains four packs with each pack containing an autograph or a memorabilia card. You are guaranteed at least two autographs with one being one of the aforementioned Rookie Silhouettes cards. The others will be memorabilia or additional autographs.

You can find the product on DA Card World for about $100. You can also find the checklist on Cardboard Connection and more information from the official Panini blog.

Preview: 2012 Panini Golden Age Baseball

Well today is release day and I’m finally getting a preview out to the masses. It’s nothing new for this month as I’ve finally finished up a difficult term in graduate school. My focus had to move elsewhere for a bit, but now I get some time to do something else I love, look at products.

Panini continues their baseball season after the season has ended with 2012 Golden Age baseball. Golden Age is a product that mixes up some of the best baseball players of all time with other professional athletes and faces from history. It’s sort of like a A&G type product.

Every box will contain one Historic Signatures autographed card, one Museum Age memorabilia card, and a number of parallels and inserts. One of the cool additions is box toppers that have a rare chance of including some memorabilia embedded into them. Thank you for bringing back the box topper, Panini.

One of my favorite additions is always the history memorabilia cards. For instance, in this product you might find a small piece of the infamous ship that sank in 1912, the Titanic. Or maybe you’ll find something with the baseball theme and get a piece of a bat used by “Shoeless” Joe Jackson from the famed Black Sox. How about an authentic 1930s-40s Babe Ruth or Lou Gehrig Goudey card?

The autographs contained in this product will be historic, as the title of the card suggests. With cut signatures of big personalities and baseball players, Triple Crown jockeys, political standouts, and more, there is a lot of American history in each box of this product.

You should be able to find it, starting today, at DA Card World for about $72.

You can find the full checklist over at Cardboard Connection as well.

Preview: 2012 Topps Five-Star Baseball

I’ve been saving this preview for quite sometime. I’m not exactly sure why, perhaps it is because of the pure epicness of the product. Or perhaps I was waiting for the most amount of information possible. Either way, this product hits stores on November 14, 2012, and the baseball collecting world is pumped up.

Well maybe not ALL of the baseball collecting world. A box of this product does cost around $500. That is big time money, for hopefully, a complete big time product.

Each box contains 5 cards, that breaks down to $100 per card, with all 5 cards being hits. This includes 1 active player autograph, 1 retired player autograph, 1 autographed relic, 1 autographed booklet or an additional autograph, and 1 jumbo jersey/patch, bat plate, or bat knob. This product is loaded with some of collectors favorite hits on the market.

Did I mention every autograph in the product is signed on card? No stickers here.

Some other highlights include special inscription cards, 8-autograph booklets, and quad patch cards. But there is also one highlight that is missed out, the 5-Star Club. The Topps Five Star Club is reserved for those who spend the big bucks with the company, including big products like this. The Club gets you access you can’t get anywhere else. A personalized membership card, exclusive Five Star baseball and football cards, VIP status at events with Topps, and quarterly calls with Topps employees. The perks are pretty good I would say.

The product already looks to be a winner amongst those who have seen the previews. It’s pricey, but it looks like one of the best high end baseball products of all time. But that’s on paper. November 14, 2012, we will find out for sure.

Check out more information on this product by visiting Cardboard Connection.

You can purchase this product online at Dave and Adam’s Card World, my preferred online retailer. Or find group breaks online at Mojo Break.

Preview: 2012 Cryptozoic Big Bang Theory Seasons 3 and 4 Trading Cards

Bazinga. I fooled you all with a product that isn’t sports!

From time to time I like to showcase products that really make me interested. Whether it be Benchwarmer products, comic book products, or TV series products like this. Big Bang Theory is one of the highest rated shows on television and it has captivated me and my fiance for a couple of years now. While I didn’t get to open last year’s product, when I heard it was coming back again I was ecstatic.

Big Bang Theory Seasons 3 and 4 trading cards are coming back this year and feature some sweet additions to the product. This time around, you’ll be able to find autographed wardrobe cards featuring an autograph (on-card of course) and a piece of wardrobe used from everyone’s favorite show. This brings you closer to Sheldon Cooper then ever before…especially if you may have met him while he was a robot.

At 24 packs per box and 5 cards per pack, you’re bound to get almost the complete set of cards. There are some other chase elements as well other than the typical wardrobe and autograph cards that you’ll find one of each of per box. You can put together the mini set of the story of “The Elevator” for instance. Or put together “The Duos” cards featuring some of the relationships that have developed during the show. It looks to be a lot of fun and if you like the show, you’ll love the collectibles.

So get ready on October 26, 2012. For $80 a box, which is very affordable in the trading card world, prepare to have your atoms knocked off.
