Preview: 2012 Topps Strata Football

I’m doing double duty today because of the big news surrounding a new product from Topps. 2012 Topps Strata will be released some time this season and it looks to be a fantastic new product to their football collection despite being a rookie heavy product.

This product is based around the acetate card design and is sort of a mix between Panini’s Crown Royale Silhouettes and Upper Deck’s SPx Shadow Box cards. It’s quite an interesting collectible to behold.

These are built into 3 layers. A top layer featuring an action shot and an autograph, a middle layer featuring another action shot, and a bottom layer featuring a piece of memorabilia which sits behind everything else. Some of these Rivet Parallels (numbered to 5) will open up and show the three different layers as well, looking like a fan.

Besides these fantastic cards, there will also be other cards to collect as well. You will be able to find some rookie relics, die-cut rookies, and a base set with several low numbered parallels.

But obviously we know what everyone will be searching for in this product, and I can’t wait to see them live around October 22, 2012. It should be an exciting new product.

Interesting to see the development of a new product, that isn’t a rehash of a design(although some could argue, that it is). The design is stunning, with or without the autograph. I’m going to break some of this stuff.

Love the use of Acetate, I have a binder dedicated to cool Acetate designs many from 90’s Non-Sport. Not sure why I’ve read several negs already..oh well.

I think this is going to be sweet..When I heard about this awhile back and got a peak of its cards my mind was made up instantly. Plus being a brand new set it will be pretty valuable..My preorder was in a week ago and I can’t wait to break this bad boy!
